Early Saturday Morning with Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are one of my favorites.
I was lucky enough to make these videos.

This first one is short.

The second one is better.

  1. Lovely, John!!! We have our feeder right in front of our living-room window and we love watching these darling little gems I action :}

    I make my own humming bird food because I like to know that there is nothing in it that will harm their delicate little innards :}

    1. I make my own also. The feeder is red so there's no need to have red dye in the solution, especially if you don't know how safe it is. If it's fresh I don't think a preservative is necessary.
      Enjoy the weekend Jan!

  2. John, I think I would start to learn how to make the videos. I couldn't photograph the hummingbirds, they are in the constant motion but in your videos you can see how it comes to your feeder, how to stay there. Little wonderful bird!

    The second video is very,very good!

  3. Don't you just love those little critters! I used to sit for hours quietly awaiting their arrival in order to take their pics. Your video turned out great.

    1. Thank you Rian. I'm amazed at how brave they are. After checking you out they fly up close. Maybe it's because they're so fast and they know we'd never be able to catch them.
      Have a good weekend!

    1. Is your feeder solution sweet enough?
      I use 8 tablespoons of sugar per 1 cup of water.
