Simplifying My Family Tree

This chart shows my personal genealogical goal. Anything more is just too involved in details which will be very difficult to keep track of.  I want to make it enjoyable, not a tedious task.

My parents were from Italy so even going back as far as this chart will be difficult.  So far I've reached my great grandparents on my mother's side and my grandparents on my father's side.  I may not be able to go back to my great great grandparents without professional help, which I'm not sure I want to do.

At least I'll have made some progress to make it a little easier for my descendants to continue if they like.

The video shows how difficult genealogy can become.

  1. I'm with you, John. That's what I focus on in my genealogical interests too. Screw all the endless siblings and cousins six times removed!

    1. Just going back directly with parents, grandparents, etc. is difficult enough; especially if you want proof like birth certificates.

  2. I took a genetics test to show what regions of the world my dna came from. I've seen most of my family tree though my maternal side has a lot of gaps.

    1. I've found some surprises too. If you'd like, take a look at my post about my father's side of the family on the male side. Copy and paste the link below:

  4. Thankfully my brother takes care of our family tree. He has put a lot of work into it and I happened to have some photos given to me by our grandmother that we could add faces to a few of the names. He is also the one who found that we are Cherokee on our father's side of the family. That mixed with German and Irish.
Hope you enjoy this experience and what a loving gift for your grandson someday~

  5. Once my family came to America they stayed put in one area and didn't spread out much. That made it a little easier. I was interested to find out that my ancestor came to America (Virginia Colony) as an indentured servant (headright) and traded 7 yrs of his life for a chance to live here. I am grateful to him. It is interesting and addictive once you get into it! good luck with your search.

I'm thinking "greats" up to the brim
Where ever I came from must be a nice place
All filled with antiques and very fine lace
