Miss Brooklyn and Miss Manhattan

These statues are located at the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge on the Brooklyn side.  What surprised me about them was how they rotate and how they are lit up from within at night.

I took these two videos, one during the day and one at night.

They're almost ghostly.

Here's a news video  about the statues.

  1. Cool. That's the first time I've ever seen that statue.

  2. What a great art project. Thank you for your photos and videos. Great public art is one trait that defines civilizations.

  3. That is so cool! The last video is a good explanation for the questions I had about it. Ten years is a long time to work on a project; I imagine the artist was relieved when it was finished :)
