Cleaning Pot Belly Stove Progress

I'm scrubbing the stove parts with only warm water.  The black paint I used years ago is still good so that's all it needed.  It will look real, not too shiny but still clean and black.

I washed the small parts in the sink.

I like the flower and vertical design.

Here's something I didn't notice before I started cleaning.
"Union Manufacturing Boyertown, PA"

Next I'll have to buy furniture cups to protect the carpet from the heavy cast iron stove.  Then put the stove back together in the basement den.

  1. You’ve put a ton of effort into this. Where does the stove sit? And do you have forced air in addition to the stove?

    1. I have forced air heat. Even though the stove is real I'm using it as a decoration.

  2. Did you know that baking soda and vinegar will bubble a bit and do a lot of the cleaning for you without harming the paint? It is tried and true.

  4. Good looking parts. Hope they all come together as a potbelly stove.

    1. I was able to put it together. The hardest part was four screws and nuts. I had to find the right sizes and put my hands inside the stove to tighten them.

  6. Ah! It's neat to have uncovered an identifying piece of information during the cleanup! Looking forward to seeing the finished job.
