The discussion is a bonus. I didn't know and never thought of wondering what it was possibly about. I was a kid when this hit came out and it's just something that crossed my mind nowadays. Thank you for including the lyrics on your post. I couldn't find them anywhere else. It's great to finally go over words properly, not just hum the tune.

Visiting from Southeast Asia,
Hazel Hazelhttps://hazelceej.com/wandering-heart/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4711916520510176931.post-15631153047907053182017-02-17T21:02:59.958-05:002017-02-17T21:02:59.958-05:00Those ARE two very different songs, aren't the...Those ARE two very different songs, aren't they?) There's no explicitly gendered words in these lyrics. Life seems to add new perspective to the meaning/message of a song.
You put in some views on your post but you didn't indicate your own view.
I think the song tells a story of a sexual encounter from the view of the woman. I don't think she is young since it says, "old enough to face the dawn". What happens during the passion of the night vs. the light of day can be very different.Bill Lislemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15187273560129198423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4711916520510176931.post-36628873885422490422017-02-15T22:13:08.619-05:002017-02-15T22:13:08.619-05:00I agree with Emma!

She knew what she was getting into and expected nothing more than companionship for the night. All she asked in return was for the man to at least act like he appreciated her for that night.Emma Springfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10543689047463574012noreply@blogger.com
