"Mathematical structures can consist of numbers, sets, groups, and points — but are they real objects, or do they simply describe relationships that necessarily exist in all structures?" 

I think that numbers only describe what is "real" and have no real existence outside of our minds.

    The numbers are only symbols. The math functions and relationships that predict and constrain physical objects like a bubble or a planet appear to work throughout our universe even if no one thinks about it.
    I found an interesting book (good but not great) titled "Trespassing on Einstein's Lawn" that spends many pages pondering what reality is.
    The other big mystery is my love of bacon.
