This morning Lynette found this wasp nest. She was scared and I don't blame her. The way she described it at first, I thought there was something terribly wrong with the house. I wondered if something like part of the roof had caved in.
You can see the wasps going into and coming out of the nest.
This looks like a very scary and unhappy face.
Now we'll have to find someone to take down the nest. This is the first time such a large wasp nest was in our yard.
Oh gosh, what a thing to stumble on! I was renting a house one time and I routinely used to shake out my broom over the back deck. A little bit of banging and I discovered there was a big nest under the deck. They flew after me!! It was scary. I called an exterminator. No fooling with wasps! Though I do love that face you saw in the nest! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a big one, the only way I'd take on that myself is with a flamethrower
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time I've seen one.
ReplyDeleteOoooooo gawd yeah, that's a big one! Get a professional to deal with it. Don't try spraying that goop on it yourself.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is huge!
ReplyDeleteWe do our own wasp extermination, and by "we" I mean "my husband"! The trick is to wait until twilight, when the wasps have all returned to the nest. There are sprays made just for this purpose. All you need to do is get the first shot right in the entrance of the nest to make sure none get out while you continue spraying. I hate to think of the insects dying from the poison, but sometimes it's a matter of safety for the family living nearby.
ReplyDeleteIt's a big one. I wonder that no one has been stung.
ReplyDeleteThat is a one and looks like it's been there quite a while.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of it.
