Strange Canes

I was searching the web for a cane I might like. This is the cane left over from my back problems before surgery. It's very comfortable with its padded handle and stable enough to stand on its own,  But it will easily tip over if pushed. Here's a cane/seat: It might be okay for outdoor events but too bulky for ordinary use. A folding cane might be nice: But will it stay open? Gun cane?: This must be a joke. This sword cane is real.  Here's a video: It's too deadly for me.  I also found a stun gun cane and a blow dart cane.  Who knows what else is out there! I think I'll stick with my old trusty off set, cushioned handle, tripod tip cane.

How to Tell Orientals Apart

I saw this video that I thought you might find interesting. It's from YouTube. Click on the picture above for a better view. Tomorrow I go for another four hour IVIG treatment.  I'll surf the web, take a nap and whatever.  It's not very interesting except that I get some time to be by myself.  I'm lucky the treatment is covered by my insurance otherwise it would just be too expensive.

Halloween Chalk Sock

I remember how for Halloween some kids would fill an old sock with colored chalk pieces and break them into powder by hitting the sock on the ground.    If someone did not give out candy their sidewalk would be marked by large chalk spots.  It was harmless, a good rain or hosing would clean it all up. The older kids would sometimes hit the smaller children with a sock.  I remember how afraid we were that we might be hit.  It was more fright than pain. I found this video which is close to how we used to do it except that we did not use a grater, only the sidewalk. Here someone is trying to make money from such a simple project. Did you make "chalk socks" for Halloween when you were young?

More Poor Designs from Bored Panda

I wonder what they are smoking. At first I couldn't see what was wrong with this picture until I studied the shadow. I bet the designer gets easily lost. Somehow a slice of grapefruit does not look like the letter G. This do-it-yourself project just did not work out. I hope I would do a better job.

Third Birthday for Grandson Miles 2017

One of his favorite toys,  the box from a washing machine we bought to replace our twenty year old machine. His red toy car bounces off the top. Inside  A video of Miles in action

Funny? Confusion

My brother Tony sent me this link.  I think everyone has a day like this sometimes. Every now and again someone puts into words what so many people are feeling! Read this amazing email and let us know if you can relate.    Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. – Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. But then I think, So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. since I’m going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the

Responses to "Thank You"

In response to "Thank You" I grew up with "You're Welcome".  But now I hear "No Problem" most of the time.  It seems a little strange to me.  Was there a problem possible? Does the response mean that the person prevented the problem you almost caused? "No worries" is a little like "no problem".  Was there something I should have been worried about? A possibility from English Language & Usage : "It was no problem for me to hold the door for you, because your ease of access is more important  than me getting to my car faster." Or Maybe "The main difference is that  you're welcome  is meant to be polite while  no problem  is meant to be friendly." I like this idea even though it's a bit hard to follow: "Based on the other answers it seems not everyone has the following connotations with both terms, but I would argue that "No problem" implies that you did something out of

Have Any Malapropisms to Share?

Here are a few I've heard of: He was on the horns of an enema. I can assert the truth of it, without fear of contraception. Enfield Cinema - Sinfield Enema Nooks  & Crannies - Crooks and Nannies Horse drawn carriage - Horse drawn cabbage. Soldiers go to war - Shoulders only shrug. The street is called Juble Early Drive named after the Civil War general. Not Surly Gerbil Drive She wanted to fry her kitchen. It's safer to fry your chicken. Brooklyn was hit with a tomato. Much safer than being hit with a tornado. Grand Union Station Not Grand Onion Station She failed her addition. I hope she won't also fail the audition.

It's a Dog!

Most thought it was a cat, which is what I would have guessed. This is a photo out in the snow at another time.  Here his eyes are somehow two colors! Week's Image  June 25th 2017

National Awkward Moments Day

I wonder why there's a horse in this picture.  Let me know if you can figure it out.  I just don't understand what it has to do with an awkward moment. I just saw what it is.  But they could have found a better photo. From the site: NATIONAL AWKWARD MOMENTS DAY "On March 18th, we recognize National Awkward Moments Day.  This is an annual day that every person can relate to as we have all had our awkward moments from time to time as they are a part of life; they just happen. Awkwardness or embarrassment is defined as an emotional state of intense discomfort with oneself. Have you ever called someone by the wrong name, tripped over nothing, walked into a door, had the completely wrong words come out of your mouth or just forgot what you were doing?  The list could go on and on. Sometimes, things just do not seem to go right, and something happens that may make you feel like you want to run and hide. Whether on National Awkward Moments Day or any other day

Old Shots of Our Pet Dogs

Unedited photo of York, my son-in-law's and daughter's dog. Never mind red eye, have you ever seen yellow and blue eyes? I showed these photos and video before but a while ago in different posts.  I had my four hour IVIG treatment yesterday for my CIDP condition, so maybe that's why I couldn't come up with anything new.  (If interested in the details please check the web.  I have foot drop so it's not as bad as it might have been)   Barkus was my pet Golden Retriever.  He'd love to sleep all day if he could. He had a thyroid problem.  Before him I had a more active darker Golden Retriever called Kringle.  They both past away. Tonight I can't find a photo of Kringle. Sometimes I get so "organized" that I can't find anything.  Miles with Artic, who replaced York. Here's a cute video about how a dog can lift your spirits.
