REFLECTIONS

This afternoon at 3:45 I'm going to see doctor Swope.  He's the surgeon who preformed my operation.  I want to get my stitches out early before I go on vacation.  If not I'll have to reschedule my vacation.   Maybe I can get the stitches out after my vacation.  I'll ask him what to do. My mother-in-law is being discharged from the hospital this afternoon.  My wife said she's still a bit confused but her hallucinations have stopped.  I probably won't be there to see her. It depends on what the doctor does to my hand. Wish me luck!

We slept with the windows open last night.  There was a slight breeze and the temperature got down to about 71 degrees.  It felt great!  Autumn is on its way. I still have tomatoes growing in the garden.  They are mostly green.  It's taking a little longer for them to ripen. Later on if they stay green I'll have to let them ripen indoors.  I've heard they'll ripen faster if you put them in a brown paper bag. Lynette's mother is in the hospital because her sodium levels were very low and her blood pressure was too high. She's 90 years old so her doctor wants to make sure she's stable before sending her home. She seems a little confused.  It's  sort of funny yet worrisome.  According to her there were spiderwebs over her head and bugs on her IV line. Her mom thought the hallway was the street and insisted that Lynette go out and collect the mail.  To calm her down Lynette pretended to do this. "That's not the mail! You can't fool

The other day I was playing with the advanced settings on my blog template.   By using the "Page Text" I found a way to make some interesting changes.  Some of you may already know how to do this but it's all new for me. Here is what I discovered: I can change the default font for my post.  But it also changes the "About me", "Archive", "Comments" so you have to see if you like how it looks before changing things.  If you don't like the way it turns out you can always change it back. Here's the way I found: 1. 2. 3. 4.   Here you can change the default font, color, size and make it always bold and or italic if you like. The nice part is that you can see how it will turn out by looking at the bottom part of the screen:  5. You can clear all the changes if you change your mind or want to start over. These are the fonts available for my blog. This line is the default font. If I use the bold setting (as in this line) it makes no difference in the appearance.  Italic shows up like this. The Arial font of this sentence must be the default because it looks the same. Courier is definitely different. It looks like the text of an old fashioned typewriter! It's a bit fainter. The bold print is not any "bolder" for any of these fonts. It must be set up that way by my blog template.  I like the Georgia font best. The italic is even better.  It seems  more personal to me, like an easier to read script. Helvetica seems almost the same as Arial! The italic is different. Times  is the smallest here. Italic is also small.   Trebuchet is okay. The italic is a little different.  Verdana is not bad. It's the largest. Here is the italic. Now I'm printing the rest of this post in Georgia italic. If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that every so often I need to have an operation to release what is called a "trigger finger".  Each time it's a different finger. The pain when my finger gets stuck only lasts a few seconds but it can be intense, like touching a hot stove. It's not a serious operation for me. I insisted they only give me a local injection to numb my hand. Not only is it safer but I won't have a hangover from the anesthesia. I can also make sure they operate on the correct finger!
