Dracaena Fragrans Growing Buds 2018

About a year ago my plant grew two flowers. Now I found two buds growing. From a distance the buds are hard to see. Below are some closer views. Look closely to see the droplet of liquid.  It was a very sticky liquid last year that dripped on the plant leaves and "corroded" some holes in them.  The buds should grow linger in a little while. I found some dead flies near the buds so I wonder if the plant somehow used them for nourishment or was it just a coincidence? Autumn Song from an Old Post

I thought you might like this before Winter really comes into play. From my post on October 2016.  For the lyrics:   REFLECTIONS: "Come Little Leaves"

Walking on Leaves

Remember walking on fallen leaves as a child? It was magical! The smaller girl is my granddaughter

Autumn is Almost Here 2018

Here are some of my photos from past Autumns. I'm looking forward to this year's Fall season.

Dracaena Fragrans Corroding Itself

Dracaena Fragrans Martha from the  Plowing Through Life (Martha)  blog identified this plant for me. It is very fragrant, almost too fragrant.  It started making holes in its own leaves by dripping a sticky liquid from its blossoms. It seems a little strange to me.

October 2017 Last Tomatoes & Zinnea

They are all beautiful and I like the yellow ones most. The Zinnea are tall this year. Last of the tomatoes are smaller now. The bees are still busy. I cleaned up the vegetable patch a little, no more cucumbers, small tomatoes.

Autumn

I took this first photo a few years ago. The next two are from the web:

Apple Harvest Fair

Some of the many apple diseases were on display. The fair had a few country singers, no one famous.  Local crafts were on display for sale. We didn't play the bingo games but sat at one of the tables to get some shade from the sun. It was a quiet summer afternoon.

Backyard Hummingbird's Nest

I did not actually see the nest when it was in use but I'm sure the birds left the nest empty after the eggs hatched and the young were able to care for themselves. The next day I found the nest on the ground. I made this short video of one of the three hummingbirds I see at the feeder each day.

A Few Foggy Morning Photos

Tomato, Olive Oil, Basil and Mozzarella

My garden tomatoes taste great! Sliced Italian bread makes it even better. I have some of the sandwich with fresh basil and some without. Soaked in olive oil adds the final touch. These slightly different photos make me hungry.

Backyard Trumpet Vine 2017

Hopefully it will continue growing down the other side of the trellis.  We should have planted one on both sides so they could meet in the center. Here is a seed pod.

Garden Progress 2017

The plants are growing past the top screen! This is the top of the tomato plant.  I'm not going to trim it, want to see what happens next.  Will tomatoes grow on top of the screen? Here's another angle where you can see in the back row how the cucumber plants are also growing above the screen. Only one eggplant so far. The tomato plant is doing great.
