Backyard Concrete Table and Chairs

We don't sit there anymore; not sure why.  Someday I'll have to use them again.  They look good under the trees. Here's a handsome spider outside my back door.  I wonder if it's poisonous.

Sleep

I woke at 6 AM today without the alarm. Usually I get up at 7:30.  This makes it 6 and a half hours of sleep instead of the usual 8 hours. Falling asleep is no problem for me and I take a half hour nap in the afternoon. To decide if I should always get up at 6 AM or go back to getting up at 7:30; I checked  the web for information. On the the web I found this table: Eight hours seems to be a midpoint.  Now if I set the alarm to 7 AM I'll get 7 and a half hours of sleep.  If I set it at 7:30 I'll get 8 hours. I'm going to leave the alarm set to 7:30 but if I get up before the alarm I'll stay up.  This will make it 8 hours or less sleep. Sometimes I get a little compulsive.

Indoor Apple Tree Progress #3

This morning when I checked the apple seed pot I saw 3 small growths of what I thought were sprouts.  They were tiny mushrooms!  They were growing right where I had planted the seeds.  Does this mean the seeds are dead? Here is a closeup.   When I first saw them they were standing erect.  After breakfast I took these photos.  They had all fallen over. Later, in the afternoon I saw they had all withered and died.  So maybe my apple seeds still have a chance.  I'll have to wait and see.

Indoor Apple Tree Progress #2

This is the pot I'm using.  The 3 seeds I'm using.  Notice the top one has some sort of piece growing out.  Could it be a root or a stem? I wrapped them in a wet paper towel to help them sprout. Then I put the towel in a plastic bag to keep the seeds moist. After a few days a brown stain appeared. I took the seeds out of the plastic bag and unfolded the paper towel. Here are two of the three seeds. This is the seed with a small projection. I planted all 3 seeds.  Now I'll wait to see what develops. I'll make a post when or if I get a sprout.

The Lonely Forest Fairy

I found this video on: The link:  Linda's Peaceful Place For me the video (Paul Mauriat -Isadora) shows an innocent garden fairy in the woods. Try making it full screen with a stronger sound for a better effect.

Miniature Indoor Apple Tree Project #1

I'm starting a new project that isn't really a bonsai tree but just a small tree in a pot.  It doesn't require special knowledge and skill.  It also grows a lot faster. I got the idea from the "Blog Click" site. The link on the blog:  Maçã como plantar, How to plant apple .  It's a good Brazilian site in Portuguese and English. I started with two large Gala apples.  The first one only had two seeds!  I thought there would more.   I had better luck with the second apple. I always have a problem with planting seeds and thinning the seedlings.  Which seeds do I plant and which sprouts do I let live when I thin out the pot? Even though it can't be helped, it still feels a little sad, like I'm killing some of them. I didn't use the two seeds from one apple because it seems to me there must be something wrong with producing only 2 seeds. I read somewhere that if a seed floats in water instead of sinking; it may be e
