SOS

I wondered what SOS stands for and found some interesting information. "Beginning in 1836, the American artist  Samuel F. B. Morse , the American  physicist   Joseph Henry , and  Alfred Vail   developed an  electrical telegraph  system. This system sent pulses of  electric current  along wires which controlled an  electromagnet  that was located at the receiving end of the telegraph system. A code was needed to transmit natural language using only these pulses, and the silence between them. Morse therefore developed the forerunner to modern International Morse code." ~Wikipedia Samuel F. B. Morse "At the second Berlin Radiotelegraphic Conference 1906, the subject of a danger signal was again addressed. Considerable discussion ensued and finally SOS was adopted. The thinking was that three dots, three dashes and three dots could not be misinterpreted.  It was to be sent together as one string." ~ http://www.boatsafe.com/ Wireless Telegrap

Have You Seen Old Dollar Green?

I found this song one day while surfing the web.  It was by another unknown singer and the lyrics were hard to hear.  When I looked for a better version I had no luck for over a year; until yesterday when I found this version by Lou Rawls. I could not find a copy of the lyrics anywhere.  There is another song with a similar title but not this one. Here are some of the lyrics:   Some people call him Buck and other people call him Bill. He has the face of a president and His home is in the US mint. I'm looking for him right now If you see him send him to me right away. I need him in my jeans. I have to go out  and get some bread and beans Enjoy.

Happy Together

If you're not too young, you'll remember from the sixty's, the Turtles and Happy Together. Happy Together The Turtles Imagine me and you, I do I think about you day and night It's only right To think about the girl you love And hold her tight So happy together If I should call you up, invest a dime And you say you belong to me And ease my mind Imagine how the world could be So very fine So happy together I can't see me lovin' nobody but you for all my life When you're with me, baby, the skies will be blue for all my life Me and you and you and me No matter how they tossed the dice It had to be The only one for me is you And you for me So happy together I found these photos on an Italian translated version of the video.  The music is the Turtles in English with Italian subtitles.  It was so good I had to share it.

Robert Plant & Alison Krauss

I came across these songs with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.  I never heard of them singing together.  Hope you enjoy.

Listen to the Rain

Try full screen with sound up. Listen to the pouring rain Listen to it pour, And with every drop of rain You know I love you more Let it rain all night long, Let my love for you go strong, As long as we're together Who cares about the weather? Listen to the falling rain, Listen to it fall, And with every drop of rain, I can hear you call, Call my name right out loud, I can here above the clouds And I'm here among the puddles, You and I together huddle. Listen to the falling rain, Listen to it fall. Rain Ann Murray

Solsbury Hill, Peter Gabriel

" Solsbury Hill " is a song by English musician  Peter Gabriel  about a  spiritual experience  atop  Solsbury Hill  in Somerset , England Gabriel has said of the song's meaning, "It's about being prepared to lose what you have for what you might get... It's about letting go." ~Wikipedia Solsbury Hill Peter Gabriel Solsbury Hill By Peter Gabriel Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing, stretching every nerve I had to listen had no choice I did not believe the information I just had to trust imagination My heart going boom, boom, boom Son, he said, grab your things I've come to take you home To keep in silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut So I went from day to day Thou

The Devil's Violinist, Paganini

"Niccolò  (or Nicolò)  Paganini  (27 October 1782 – 27 May 1840) was an Italian violinist, ... guitarist, and composer." Wikipedia I saw the movie The Devi's Violinist on TV last night.  At first I didn't think I would like it but once it started I loved it.  It's about his life, except that they added a fictitious character who succeeded in convincing Paganini into making a deal with the devil, in exchange for fame and money.  The man who plays Paganini is a virtuoso violinist and played the violin himself. The singer sang her own part. A Love Song Here are the lyrics translated from the Italian: Penso Io ti, Amore (I think of you, love.) Think of you, love,  when the sunshine  shines on the sea.  I think of you, love,  when every ray of the moon  is drawn on the sources.  I see  when on the distant road  dust rises,   when the narrow path  Tremble Walker In the deep night ...  In the deep night.  I feel you, love, sad When sound  w

My 6 Month Old Grandson Loves This Song

Whenever my wife Lynette sings "Baby Talk" by Jan and Dean, my grandson Miles stops crying and listens. I am only five years old and my baby's three But I know that she's my girl just you wait and see When I say I love my girl, she replies to me (Bom ba ba bom) Yeah Which means to say she loves me In baby talk To say she loves me Dib dib dib dib dib She can not be very well, everybody knows But to me she shore looks swell, in her baby clothes I asked her if her love is true and she only goes (Bom ba ba bom) Yeah I'll tell the world, that I love her so And if she wants to be my girl I'll never, (ever), never let her go When I kiss her on the cheek, oh so tenderly Although I'm only five years old, and my baby's three (Um dab um dab um dab dab um dab um dab dab) I really love my baby Dib dib dib dib dib Love my baby Dib dib dib dib dib

I love the video.  It goes great with the music and lyrics.  Try full screen. O.A.R. - Peace I don't wanna fight no more I only wanna get to shore Baby don't slam the door tonight We ran another off the tracks  That's time we can't get back We can save tomorrow if we try Oh oh oh oh until we make this right Oh oh oh oh I won't say good night  I just wanna make you laugh I just wanna see that smile Babe we're only here, oh for a little while I just wanna hold you till we fall asleep  I want love, I want us, I want you, I want me, I want peace Everybody needs a place, somewhere that's warm and safe For shelter from this crazy world we're in But tonight I let the rain inside, I took away your place to hide I'm sorry that I made you cry again
