My Yard (A Few Photos Autumn)

Few

Companions in My Carport

One day I sat outside on a bench in the carport. We use the carport like a veranda so jokingly I call it our "caranda". Anyway, a hummingbird inspected one windchime then another one. I stopped using the hummingbird feeders after I became unsteady and took them down. The bird seemed puzzled. It flew towards me and hovered about only two or three feet from me. I imagined it asking me what happened to the feeders.  Then it flew away. A praying mantis crashed into the siding behind the bench. At first I thought it was a hummingbird. It rebounded off the wall and landed on the bench next to me. It sat there looking up at me. When I put my hand out it followed it, turning its head and eyes. We sat like this for about half an hour. When I gently touched one of its legs, it flew away. I had a wonderful relaxing time in the fresh air with my two visitors. Or maybe I was the visitor.

My Brother Anthony's Birthday

Oxalis Triangularis Also called False Shamrock or Purple Shamrock   My brother loves his houseplants. He even keeps a list to grow the ones that are safe for his location. So I bought a wooden potted set with the shamrocks already planted and ready to grow. This was great because he just had surgery on his right hand and it would be difficult to work with soil.  I also bought one for myself. I took these photographs a few years ago.  My daughter bought them for me after I admired hers. I was able to get some n ice shots of its flowers. Here is a closeup of the tiny flowers.

Joining Her for a Bath

I took and edited this photograph, giving it a soft appearance.

NATURE: You Can't Always Get What You Want

The Willow Maid   Slept all day, very tired and weak. But I was able to find this cartoon several days ago.

Backyard Spiderweb September 2020

When I sat outside in my backyard this morning I saw this spider's web that I just had to share with you. It's so neat and well formed, not like the spider and her web that I saw the other day. Her's was three dimensional but very sloppy.  This morning I saw no spider on this web. More photos are below: From a Different Angle A Soft Focus Bush in the Background

Spring 2020

Never Knew This About Tumbleweed

Just have to share this video I found on the Miss Cellania Weblog.   Link:  Miss Cellania

A Houseplant Is Blooming

According to the sticker that came with the plant it's a Kalanchoe.   She seems to like it here. Here she is with some of her buddies.

Visited by a Tree Frog

The other night I saw a frog on the side of my house on the back yard side. It was so cute and not afraid of me so I just had to take a photo.

Hornet's Nest

Lynette noticed a hornet's nest on one of our trees. It was a pretty large size and we knew we could not get rid of it on our own. A spray can from Loews just would not be practical. The exterminator did a great job. Here are a few photos I took:

I Like Dandelions

If the dandelion was difficult to grow it would be desired for its beauty. I found this interesting video about the history of the dandelion while I was wandering on the the internet.

Vegetable Garden 2019

This year in my 4 foot by 4 foot garden I've planted tomato, cucumber and basil.  It's only for fun but I do get enough for my wife and I to enjoy.

Snowing Again 🎇

Winter Outside My Back Door

This was the second snowfall this year, much larger than the first. I like the way the snow makes a sort of cap on the bird feeder. A few years ago the icicles were larger. One fell down and broke a basement window.

Just in Time for Christmas

This plant was a gift but I don't know its name. It made this one flower about a month before my Christmas cactus began blooming.
