I make my own also. The feeder is red so there's no need to have red dye in the solution, especially if you don't know how safe it is. If it's fresh I don't think a preservative is necessary. Enjoy the weekend Jan!
John, I think I would start to learn how to make the videos. I couldn't photograph the hummingbirds, they are in the constant motion but in your videos you can see how it comes to your feeder, how to stay there. Little wonderful bird!
Don't you just love those little critters! I used to sit for hours quietly awaiting their arrival in order to take their pics. Your video turned out great.
Thank you Rian. I'm amazed at how brave they are. After checking you out they fly up close. Maybe it's because they're so fast and they know we'd never be able to catch them. Have a good weekend!

Lovely, John!!! We have our feeder right in front of our living-room window and we love watching these darling little gems I action :}
ReplyDeleteI make my own humming bird food because I like to know that there is nothing in it that will harm their delicate little innards :}

I didn't have any luck with hummingbirds this year
ReplyDeleteIs your feeder solution sweet enough?
DeleteI use 8 tablespoons of sugar per 1 cup of water.
I liked both videos, but I actually liked the first video even more.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you're right Lon.
DeleteThere is more action in the first video.
