Mr. Leotard and the Flying Trapeze

“Synchronicity is a term used by Carl Jung to describe coincidences  that are related by meaningfulness rather than by cause and effect.”  ― David Richo It all started while I was watching "It Happened One Night" with my wife.  When a song about the "Daring Young Man..." came on she said to me  that it might be good for one of my posts. Yesterday on January 8, 2014 I did a post about the song: The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze Here's the link to that post: The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze Now today January 9, 2014, I somehow surfed my way to a post named "Why Leotards Are Called That" from the Today I Found Out blog. Here's the link:   Why Leotards Are Called That Some excerpts: "Born in 1842, Leotard is best known for inventing the flying trapeze routine. His father owned a gymnasium and trained Leotard in his early years. As a boy, he became proficient at the parallel ba

The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze

I saw a great movie on the Turner Classic Movie channel called "It Happened One Night".  In the movie while riding in a bus one of the passengers starts singing  "The  Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze ".  Some of the other passengers join in.  Now this has very little to do with the plot but it's one of those songs that just stick in your mind playing over and over.

I Hate Clutter!

Ever since I've been renovating my basement the house has turned into a pile of clutter.  There are boxes and papers everywhere.  Everything is very clean but just out of place. I want to discard as many things as I can without throwing out some valuable or sentimental items. Clutter keeps building up as if some force or intelligence is battling against me.  One problem is reading books about how to make my life simpler and uncluttered, instead of taking action.  This wastes a lot of time and energy. Is there some intelligence causing the clutter?  It would be nice to put the blame on someone else.   Maybe my wife is messing things up just to be mean. But that would not make any sense. I could blame it on goblins. But I don't believe in goblins.  Sometimes it just seems as if someone is messing things up. I believe the real cause is entropy. Here is a video that explains it best. This is a bit too theoretical and not practical for what I

A New Year Brings New Experiences

Last night I learned that my daughter Laurissa is expecting her first baby!   She phoned as soon as she knew she was pregnant.  I'm so excited.  I wonder how it might feel being a grandfather. Lynette and I playfully called each other grandma and grandpa. A new life is coming in the new year, how wonderful!

Happy New Year!

Thank You Very Much Mr. Scrooge

Automatons from the Scrooge Movie of 1951

I love  the movie Scrooge (1951) A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim.  Watching it is a Christmas tradition for me. This year I watched a colorized version. It was great. The colors were not overdone, just enough to give some more detail to the movie. I cut out the brief scene at the beginning of the movie showing Tiny Tim looking into a store window. The automatons seem magical to me.
