I just found out that there is an author with my same name!
Also, he has a book title which is similar to mine. I'm sure it was all a coincidence. He has other works out. Should I use a pen name? Should I change my books title? It must be some sort of mix up.
There is a page on the Amazon e-books called "Bookshelf". It has several of my older books, but not my two newest books. However, the books are listed on Amazon for sale if you search.
I tried looking for help on the Amazon sight but could not find any human to help me. It was a great mess.
When I searched using an AI called Bard I found some help:
"Is there a human help contact on amazon eBooks to fix problems with presenting my books?" I typed.
Yes, you can contact human support for help with problems presenting your eBooks on Amazon. There are two ways to do this:
Call customer service: You can call Amazon customer service at 1-888-280-4331 and ask to speak to a human representative about your eBook issue.
Chat online: You can chat online with a human representative by going to the Amazon Customer Service website and clicking on the "Chat Now" button.
When you contact customer service, be prepared to provide the following information:
Your name and contact information
The title(s) of the eBook(s) you are having trouble with
A detailed description of the problem you are experiencing
The customer service representative will be able to help you troubleshoot the problem and try to resolve it for you. If they are unable to resolve the issue, they may escalate your case to a more senior team member who will be able to assist you further.
Here is a link to the Amazon Customer Service website:

I hope this helps!
Wow! I looked all over the site for at least half an hour and could not find a thing. Bard found the information I needed with suggestions on how to use them in only a few seconds. I'm impressed.
I'm too tired to try tonight. I'll try in the morning.
Could you perhaps use your full name (including middle name or names) as a way of distinguishing yourself from this other author?
ReplyDeleteI think it's okay. His first name is Joseph, mine is John. So now I just have to get my 2 books back on my "bookshelf". Or, I can use 2 separate accounts. But I don't have the web address for the new account. I emailed them a form asking to have this all straightened out. Complicated!
DeleteWell that's a nuisance, hard to find a human to talk to these days with some companies.
ReplyDeleteWhy should you change your name, as Debra above says, use your second name as Author.
I emailed a form explaining what happened.
DeleteCould you maybe differentiate yourself from this other author by using any name you love to be called
ReplyDeleteI guess I could.
DeleteOh dear, I do hope you are able to sort this out with a real human being. It will all work out in the end, believe it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kay.
DeleteHaving gone through some of this myself, I did end up using a pen name... but even those are almost impossible to find that someone else hasn't used. But I do appreciate that info about Amazon help as I've often wondered if there was any way to actually talk to a person. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt did not work for me! The man I got thought the "bookshelf" was an actual bookcase Kept being transferred to different people until I found an email method. They need to use a form so it must happen frequently.
