Labor Day in the United States is a holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is a celebration of the American labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.

I think Americans would improve our country if they thought about the origin of why there is a Labor Day than using it as another "day off"
ReplyDeleteAdam makes a good point. At the same time there are usually parades and celebrations that include tributes to working people. If there is a parade there is usually a speech that should include a history of workers and their trials and victories. Then get out the boat or invite the neighbors for a barbecue. Besides remembering we must take advantage of the opportunity to relax on the day honoring the worker.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, however you celebrate.
ReplyDeleteCheers and boogie boogie.
It is the same here in Canada. The first Monday in September is labour day. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI hope your Labor Day was happy, John.
ReplyDeleteOur's was very nice and our granddaughter almost made it a true "labor day" by being in labor. She still is but our little great granddaughter doesn't seem to be quite ready...yet :)
Hope your day was special and relaxing! Like your blog! Hugs...Ro
