I Found on Web: Do You Remember?

I remember how slow it was to dial a number. Putting your finger into a hole, spinning the dial, then waiting for what seemed like forever for it to return. Some phones had the phone's number under the cover in the center of the phone. It was printed by the owner.
The times were less rushed back then so it really didn't matter. It looks warm and cozy for me.
I guess I'm showing my age. Anyone else remember?

Take care,
    John

  1. Oh yeah, I remember rotary dials. I even remember PRE-rotary dials, when you had to go through a real live operator to reach another number.

  2. Oh, the rotary dials! I remember the wall phones. When push button dials came, it was like a gift.

  3. Oh yes, I do remember using a phone like this. My students did not even know what it was or how to use it. I couldn't wait to get a digital phone in my office as my department kept the old phones way too long

  7. I do remember these. Like Debra, I remember what came before them, too - the two separate parts (earpiece and mouthpiece) and cranking the phone to create the different "rings" for other households or calling the operator to speak to someone on a different "line". I feel ancient when I think of that :)

Understanding the Introvert

I have to admit it. I'm an introvert and this article explains it best. I need friends as much as anyone but I just find it difficult.  Anyway, I'm better off this way than being with people who are phony and manipulative.  Here is a copy of the article from the "Lifehack" site: http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/you-didnt-get-why-you-couldnt-get-along-with-introverts-before-you-read-this-youll-understand-after.html The website is on my list of interesting sites.

QWERTY vs DVORAK Keyboard

I never knew there was a different type of keyboard like DVORAK instead of QWERTY (named after the first six letters on the left of the first row) , at least not in English or similar languages. Chinese has a modified QWERTY keyboard something like: Or maybe this keyboard below is purely Chinese: Back to English:  The video below explains why the QWERTY keyboard is used almost 100% today and some future possibilities.  Not changing my keyboard, it's not worth the effort for me .
