Teaching How to Commit Burglary

"Burglary, also called breaking and entering and sometimes housebreaking, is the act of entering a building or other areas without permission, with the intention of committing a criminal offence. Usually that offence is theft, robbery or murder, but most jurisdictions include others within the ambit of burglary." Wikipedia

I've seen this man's videos on YouTube and I have to admit they are entertaining. He calls himself The Lock Picking Lawyer. Sometimes I wonder if he may be unintentionally encouraging crime? Besides making many videos he also sells the equipment.

But it is legal!!!

  • Must Show Intent: In most states, and most of the world, owning lock picks is 100% legal. It is only when you use them in an illegal way that you will find trouble. Lock picks in these states are seen by the law in the same light as a screwdriver or hammer. All of these tools can be used illegally, but until you show intent to use them for criminal purposes, they are just tools.
The tools are easily available on line, even on Amazon.

Here is a basic kit.

What if you don't want to bother with picking the lock?

I bought an alarm system to help feel a little safer. It's a SimpliSafe self install system, not too expensive.

Take care,

  1. I don't believe many burglars go to the time and trouble of carefully picking a lock, whether it be on a house, building or car. A crowbar or a hammer is a much quicker and more efficient way of breaking in.

    1. That's true. So this must be mostly a hobby like a Rubik’s Cube.

  2. Goog grief. Makes one a bit uneasy. We have an alarm system, it's handy to use.
