Celiac Disease

The last few days have been a bit difficult because my wife Lynette had a very bad flareup of her celiac disease.  She cannot tolerate wheat and some other grains. Non-stop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and painful abdomen went on for over a day. She became weak and dehydrated.  Even now, the day after it's difficult to get her to drink fluids.  Chicken soup, green tea and ginger ale are all I can get her to take; that and anti-diarrhea and nausea medication.   I think the "gluten free" pizza at Ledos restaurant was the cause.  On the menu it was listed as gluten free with a warning that they could not guaranty any cross contamination.  I ate some and I am fine so it was not food poisoning. Here's a video which explains it better.  The sound is a little too low so you'll have to turn up the volume.

Broken Flower Pots

I like the color and pattern of this large pot. The pot below looks like a bomb blew it apart! I only have myself to blame.  I didn't bring them in before the frost of winter cracked them. Maybe this white one survived because was in the carport. The turtles held up okay except for this one with a broken leg. I'll have to find a way to repair the two pots and the turtle leg.  I just can't see throwing them away!

Feeling Depressed vs. Clinical Depression

This post is an update from an earlier post. In a comment I made on the excellent thought provoking blog RUM-PUNCH-DRUNK ( Link:  RUM-PUNCH-DRUNK )    I was explaining how I felt about depression. This video explains how clinical depression works. ~If someone has a reason for sadness like a death in the family it is not  clinical depression. ~If someone has no reason to be sad but is sad without an explanation this could be clinical depression. I hope you find this video useful.  The video is from the Mayo Clinic website. Here's the link to the Mayo Clinic website: http://www.mayoclinic.com/

My Hardy Snake Plant

I've had a lot of luck with this plant. I cut the end of a leaf (I think you call them leaves?) once to give it a shape. It worked. Another time a leaf fell off so I just stuck it into the soil and it grew into a new plant. I let the soil dry out then flood it with water. It works great!                                            I love the color and pattern of each leaf and how it grows right out of the ground. The only problem is the leaves get so long that the plant falls over. To prevent this I'm trying a metal ring near the base to hold things together. This should work.

Exploration Today Versus Centuries Ago

This post is from an earlier one. I lost the photos but now I have them back! Enjoy! The other day I was thinking about modern exploration. Now I suppose the land is pretty much mapped out except if you count people hiking on trails. The ocean bottom still needs to be explored. "Space the final frontier” as the Star Trek show put it, is still open. But think about it. Now there is always contact with home base. After the invention of the radio it was relatively easy to communicate if you met with any trouble on your journey. You had access to expert advice. If needed you could call for help. Back in the days of Columbus once sailors set out to sea they were on there own. The only human contact was with their own shipmates. If they ran into rough weather there was no call for a rescue crew. If you sank no one would know for months and even then they had to just assume you were “lost at sea“. In my opinion they were much braver taking greater risks than a

Kryptonite vs Krypton & Superman

The real life Krypton is a colorless gas, exhibiting a whitish glow when placed in a high voltage electric field. Here is the link that explains the facts: May 30, 1898- Krypton Discovered, Decades Before Superman Arrives                                                 Sir William Ramsay, the discoverer of krypton. Kryptonite is the fictional element that takes away Superman's super human powers.  The real element called Krypton has nothing to do with the Superman story. Krypton is an inert gaseous element occurring in trace amounts in air and used in fluorescent lights and lasers. The name is derived from the Greek word for "hidden". IN ANY CASE EVEN IF  KRYPTONITE DOES NOT EXIST IN THE " REAL " WORLD;  IT DOES EXIST IN THE MIND . If we find someone who is living in own imaginary world, we still need to respect that world.  That world may intersect with the "real" world to produce a "real" effect. This vi

A Portuguese Love Song

Just As Well Just as well That I met you now I really don’t know What I did to deserve You Because no-one thought I was worth it The ones who did, I wasn't interested I didn't even believe In myself My heart Was already used To loneliness Who would say that next to me You would be You who came to stay You who who makes me happy You who makes me sing Like this My heart Was already retiring Without any illusion It had been mistreated Everything changed Now that you’re here You who makes me happy You who makes me sing Like this From: http://b-r-i-s-asuave.blogspot.com/
