“If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you” George Parker

When I found this picture of a can of "Dehydrated Water" it reminded  me of the old phrase about selling the Brooklyn bridge.  I wonder if this could have inspired the sale of bottled water that's so popular. HERE'S AN INTERESTING ARTICLE Ever since I was a young person, I have used the phrase, “If you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell to you”.  The phrase originated because for over a century people have fallen for the con that New York City is selling the Brooklyn Bridge. George C. Parker (1860-1936), a native New Yorker, was responsible for originating the phrase.  Parker, of whose life we know became famous for selling New York City landmarks of all kinds ranging from Madison Square Garden to the Statue of Liberty.  He also sold the Metropolitan Museum of Art and even Grant’s tomb as the general’s grandson! He would set up fake sales offices and forge documents to support his cons. One of his most popular places for spotting rubes or victims ...

Waiting for Christmas

I edited this photo of my grandkids that my daughter took on her cell phone.   I remember how excited I was for Christmas when I was that young.

Remember the Original Idea, Before the Apple Watch?

I wonder if our kids know about this?   100% sure our grandkids never have It has a classic look to it. Which type of watch should you buy?   Should you get several in order to take advantage of special features?  They must be good but they seem a bit expensive.

Could This Be Possible?

Simulated Reality I came across this idea a short while ago and began to wonder if it actually can be true. Are we living in a simulated world? Is what we experience only a representation of reality and not the original thing? Sometimes a person can find small errors in the simulation that are corrected or that are left as is. An example that I had many years ago: My daughter took a bus to visit us one day and I offered her some of my orange flavored Tic Tac candy. She told me a man on the bus she just left also offered her some orange flavored Tic Tacs. Was it only a coincidence? Another example: At 911 I'm sure I saw on TV the terrorist planes as they crashed into the World Trade Center buildings. Later I learned the event was not shown on TV at the time I saw it. Was it only a video I was confused about? The Monopoly game man is a common example experienced by many people. He never had a monocle. Anyway here's a video that explains it much better: Do you have any experiences...

When I Get Low, I Get High

Does this song mean that when she gets "low" (sad, depressed), she gets the strength to pull herself up and get "high". Or, does it mean she feels better by taking alcohol and drugs?  Newer video:  Try full screen. "Original" version:  Chick Webb & his Orchestra Ella Fitzgerald - When I Get Low I Get High 1936

Simulated Reality

What if the simulated reality went back in a series until it reached the primary creator? Would it be God? Here's an interesting video:

Kazoo

I was thinking about learning to play the kazoo. But I don't really like the way it sounds. Maybe I can try it kidding around as a sort of joke. These don't sound too bad.

Pure Reality vs. Our Virtual Reality Interpretation

How can we know if what we see, hear, etc. is actually real?  All of our senses are dependent on  our brain to interpret the data. Light, sound, touch are all converted into electrical signals.  We are living inside a simulation of the world that our brain creates.  But is it a close interpretation?  Is it all delusional?  Can it be altered by someone else? Any thoughts?

Alone

No Radio, No Cell Phone, No GPS etc. What often amazes me is how the old time sailors navigated the oceans. In fact they were even more alone than the astronauts of today. That was bravery! Here are some videos you may enjoy.    Here's a song about how emotionally close the men of these ships became. I often think about my old friend from 40 years ago who for some reason only sends me a Christmas card once a year but never keeps in touch the rest of the year no matter how much I try to write or phone him. It's a real mystery to me. Here's one more:

A Sad Day

"COVID-19 primarily a respiratory infection, can also infiltrate the eyes."

FRIDAY, Oct. 9, 2020 (HealthDay News) -- COVID-19 is primarily a respiratory infection, but experts have suspected the virus can also infiltrate the eyes. Now, scientists have more direct evidence of it. Link:  New Coronavirus Can Infect Your Eyes as Well Is this is something else to worry about? ---------------------------- Anyway I found this s trange photo,  I'm sure it's just a joke,  This will not work.

Reality? Coincidence? Synchronicity?

I believe coincidences are not purely determined by luck.  There is somehow a connection between events, a sort of energy-like force.  Maybe not electromagnetic or gravitational or kinetic but still something real has to be involved.  It can't be something imaginary or something we just never noticed before. When my daughter came to visit us once she took a bus and a man on the bus offered her some orange flavored Tic Tacks. That day just before she arrived I purchased a box of orange flavored Tic Tacks! When my daughter was living in Brooklyn, Brooklyn was frequently in the news. When she moved to New Jersey, New Jersey was often in the news.  Sometimes I think about someone just before they call. I can say a word and a person on TV says the same word an instant later! These "coincidences" are actually synchronicities: " the simultaneous occurrence of events which appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection".   Here are a few quotes ...

Reality? (post 9-29-20)

(I edited this image is from Web) I had a dream last night that seemed so real. It was not the first time I dreamt of  a dark solid stone building. Set back away from the street by a moderately long driveway. It was as fearsome as it was somehow inviting. Curiosity got the better of me. I went inside. It was uninhabited and had a steady slow cold draft running through the hallway, scary. Up the wide stone stairs, I was halfway up to the next floor when I woke. I was sure the building was somewhere in our neiborhood. My wife was sure it was only a dream and that she never saw such a building. But what if the building did somehow exist? Does reality exist only while we are awake? Two very short videos: Are we living in a virtual reality?
